Afghan Refugee Family Update

Freshta and Adela are now settling into their new apartment in the Vancouver General Hospital area, reunited with both their cat, Leo, and dog, Lucky. We were so grateful for all the donations of furniture and household items which have helped make their apartment into a home.

Just before Ramadan they celebrated Persian New Year and invited all their supporters to a lovely tea (see photo). Ramadan is now over; Adela has just had an operation on her eye and is recuperating; while Freshta has started the YWCA Afghan Women’s Employment program, which she is very much enjoying.

We anticipate that there will be some additions to the budget in the coming months with regard to prescriptions and other health concerns, but are very grateful for the support and help that parishioners and other friends have provided so far. Freshta and Adela so appreciate it all, as well as our prayers. We will keep you posted!
