Walking a Labyrinth

A labyrinth is not a ‘maze’ – it’s a single path folded to fit into a circle that, despite its turns and winding structure, has no dead-ends or choices to make.  When you walk a labyrinth you can quiet your mind and let go of the ordinary linear thinking we mostly live in. The single path leads you to the centre and then back out again so you can focus internally rather than be ‘in your head’.

There is no one right way to use a labyrinth.  It is a path of prayer, a walking meditation, a symbolic representation of the sacred journey of life, a vehicle for relaxation, a tool for transformation, and many more.

However, labyrinths are most often used for various forms of walking meditation. For example, you can simply mindfully walk it while being open to the energy and spirit of the design as a way to quiet your mind and focus internally. You can also enter with a particular ‘focus’: a question, a problem, a person or a situation you’re experiencing - opening yourself to receiving insight or clarity about this focus as you walk. ~ Rev.
