Together we feast on pancakes in the Parish Hall. Traditionally during Lent, Christians would give up rich, tasty foods such as butter, eggs, sugar, and fat (some Christians continue to do so, in fact). Shrove Tuesday was the last chance to eat them – and what better way to do so than with a delicious pancake!
Afterwards, those who wish to gather in the Sanctuary for a simple 5–10 minute service that involves the imposition of ashes. This service is great for young children, those with short attention spans, or folks who won’t be able to make it for Ash Wednesday.
