Cristosal

Cristosal - the St. Mary’s Base Community – was formed by parishioners and friends interested in human rights and community development work in El Salvador. The team is affiliated with the Anglican Cristosal organization based in the United States and in Central America: El Salvador; Honduras; and Guatemala.

Cristosal works to promote justice, human rights, and democratic societies in Central America, through strategic litigation, research, learning, human rights monitoring, and assistance to victims of human rights violations.

PWRDF

PWRDF is the Primate's World Relief & Development Fund.

PWRDF has always been a high priority for St Mary’s. Since 2013 St. Mary's has made a % commitment to PWRDF each year. Twice a year, during Lent and on the Reign of Christ Sunday, we have made a more specific appeal to the congregation. Lent has often been saving through some personal sacrifice and the Reign of Christ Sunday has focused on the Sunday, and included remembering the work of PWRDF in the various prayers as well as making the PWRDF World of Gifts magazine available to parishioners for their individual Christmas giving. On top of that our fundraisers for the last few years has involved social events.

Community Donations

The St. Mary's Kerrisdale (SMK) Community Donations Committee (CDC) is a small committee whose task is to disperse the funds made available to it from the church's mission and ministry budget. The committee reviews various charities throughout the lower mainland, determining who to donate funds to, and from time to time we invite these charities and their representatives to the St. Mary's coffee hour to give parishioners a chance to learn more about their work. The CDC stay connected with the charities SMK supports through their literature e.g. their annual report or newsletters. From time to time other charities will ask SMK for particular help and these are reviewed by the CDC committee. In these cases often a 'one off' donation is given.

Thank you to all the parishioners who continue to support the mission and ministry of St Mary's. It is your faithful support that makes us able to donate back to our community through the charities that address the areas of greatest need.

Refugee Team

The Refugee Team is a collection of people interested in and dedicated to assisting and advocating for refugees.

The time commitment varies according to whether the team is planning and fundraising, or actually assisting in the settlement of refugees.
